The aim of the BHF National Centre for Physical Activity is to translate research into practice for the promotion of physical activity, and:

Further our understanding of the benefits of physical activity and how to effectively increase physical activity through undertaking research and evaluation.
Support professionals through evidence-based resources, training and programmes on physical activity and heart health to help increase population levels of physical activity.
Inform and promote better practice and policy on physical activity to policy makers and health, education, transport, sport and leisure professionals through communicating current information and research findings and translating these into evidence based guidelines.
Support and maintain an international, national and regional focus for physical activity and health to ensure that physical activity plays a significant part in new strategies, policies and programmes through providing leadership and advocacy.
The Young People's programme includes:
 
Loughborough Flames: a national youth volunteering programme which aims to create a health legacy using the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Partnership between BHF, BHFNC, Loughborough College and LOCOG.
 Active Clubs Pack: The BHF Active Club pack is a free, user friendly resource that provides simple advice and practical ideas to help practitioners increase physical activity within their clubs and settings.

Active Clubs Festivals: Aimed at 8-12 year olds in club, school or youth settings to celebrate the success of the Active Club Programmes.
